3.6 Scientific collaboration

During 2002-2016, with the exception of ''Public Hospitals'' all other institution categories increased their levels of international and national collaboration. For example, the publications being a result of national collaboration rose from 1,683 in 2002 to 4,044 in 2016 for "Universities", and from 515 to 1,203 for "RC-GSRT" (Figure 3.6.1).

Most of the publications that are result of collaboration include ‘‘Universities’’ as one of the collaborating organizations. Strong networking can be observed between ‘‘Universities’’ and ‘‘Public Hospitals, and ‘‘Universities’’ and "RC-GSRT" (Figure 3.6.2).

Publications with national collaboration are publications produced as a result of collaboration between at least two Greek institutions, either of the same category (for example a publication produced as a result of collaboration between 2 Universities) or of different Categories (for example a publication produced as a result of collaboration between a University and a Private Health Institution).
